4th of July Pompom Party!

Happy Birthday, America.

You deserve a PARTY!

Here it is the 4th of July, and I'm just now making my pompom decorations.  I know, I know, it's a bit late, but I was under the weather the last couple of days, so now I'm catching up.  Anyway, we certainly can't have a holiday without a cute centerpiece, now can we?  So, I ran to the Trader Joes to grab goodies for tonight, and grabbed a bundle of fresh flowers and plopped them in a vase when I got back home.  I threw a nice satin ribbon around them and tied a little bow.  But, when I stood back to check it out it was pretty much a yawn.   What to do, what to do??  Well of course, there's always PattieWack POMPOMs, right?  So here's the pics for what happened next.  I hope it inspires you to decorate your space with some fancy little pompoms, too.  I even threw some cute little swizzle sticks together so that we would feel all fancy when we have a little cocktail later.

Everybody have a happy and safe celebration.....Happy 4th!!

Pompom Christmas Tree

Pompoms and Christmas seems like the perfect match to me,
and I've been dreaming of covering a tree with pompoms ever since Scott and I
invented the PattieWack Pompom Tool 7 years ago.

We did it!
We finally made the pompoms for our Christmas Pompom Tree.
The pompoms are soft and pretty and colorful against our white Christmas tree.

I'm loving the retro look with our mod turquoise chairs and how sweet it turned out.
It was super easy to make about 60 pompoms in all different colors of yarns.
There are 7 different bright jewel toned colors of yarn.
I made sure to use turquoise and red since those are the two major colors in our mid-century modern living room.  Then I added yummy colors like kiwi, tangerine, lemon yellow, deep purple, hibiscus and pistachio green pompoms.

 We love it!

Pom Pom Boa

This pompom boa is so fast and easy to make, you will not be able to stop with just one. You can make them is all different sizes, colors, and types of yarn. You can even use up all of the left-over yarns in your stash for a beautiful and unique boa, by tying several different colors of pompoms onto one boa. Also, if you brush the fibers when you're finished, it will make a completely different look for your boa. Have fun!

Steps:
1. Cut one strand of yarn 60" long. Lay aside.
2. Wind yarn around the PattieWack Pom Pom Tool at the 4-inch width, until it is nice and full. Count the number of times you wind the yarn, to reference the rest of the pom poms for an equal size. Cut off the yarn when you have the fullness you want.
3. Cut a 16-inch strand of yarn, double it, and use it to tie around the center of the pom pom.
4. Cut the yarn at the top and bottom of the pom pom, and pull it away from the tool.
5. Tie the pom pom to the end of the strand from Step #1. Fluff the pompom with your fingers and trim any long strands.
6. Continue to make pom poms and closely tie them onto the strand, until it is the length that you want, after adding the tassels.
7. Wind yarn around the PattieWack™ Tassel Tool at the 5-inch length, until nice and full.
8. Cut a 10-inch strand of yarn and tightly tie it around the top of the tassel.
9. Cut a 12-inch strand of yarn and bind the neck of the tassel.
10. Push the tassel down the PattieWack™ Tassel Tool, very slightly. Cut the bottom of the tassel, and pull the tassel off the tool. Trim the bottom if needed.
11. Tie the tassel to one end of the boa, using the loose strands at the top of the tassel.
12. Repeat Step# 7 thru Step# 10 to create a second tassel, and tie it to the other end of the boa to complete.

GUIDE FOR NUMBER OF POMPOMS NEEDED:

2-inch Pompoms = 36
3-inch Pompoms = 26
4-inch Pompoms = 22
Add two 5-inch tassels to create a 58-inch Boa

This is only an estimated guide.
The size and weight of your yarn
will vary the amount of pompoms needed.

PomPom Jewelry

I am going through all of my crates today to pull things out and sell at the art walk tomorrow, and saw my pompom jewelry. These just scream summer! I made itsy bitsy pompoms on my Pattiewack Pom Pom Tool that is sold through Coats & Clark. There are 2 sizes of the tools, and I used the smaller one.

I had so much fun creating the packaging for these tools, because I drew super heros to go with them and then designed comic books that have tons of cartoons with the projects inside. You get a comic book FREE inside each tool. On the covers are the Tassel Temptress and Pompom Pam. They both tell their stories on the back of the comic books. I love pompoms and tassels!
