DIY eBrush™ Gifts & Decor

 

Just when I thought I'd seen it all, I received a big box of goodness from the folks at CraftwellUSA.  I was squealing with delight when I opened the eBrush® box and saw that it's an airbrush made just for people like me.  The air flows over markers in the tiniest of sprays which makes it perfect for fine art, scrapbookers, paper crafters, and mixed media projects.   

I combined it with some of my favorite Tulip® For Your Home stencils and quickly transformed simple white paper into gift wrap that I think is quite stunning!   

The little eBrush™ went together in about 5 minutes.  I plugged it right in and got started.  Within 15 minutes I already knew I was in love with this fun gadget.  And since I'm a hoarder of all things crafty and has to do with TOOLS, I was extremely excited.

My next adventure was to try the eBrush™ on a hard surface, so I grabbed a frame that I had covered with crumpled tissue with Aleene's® Tacky Spray.  I added some little charms with nails and a hammer.  Then I found these little plastic doilies in my stash and knew they would make great masks for spraying a shadow effect.

The eBrush™ did a great job by air brushing a fine spray of indigo over the doily in opposite corners for a lace accent.  Talk about easy!  Seriously, I was done with the project in no time at all, and the frame is going to make a great little gift for someone that that loves a feminine home dec accent in their home or apartment.

Before you can say "grab some yarn!"  I was making a pom-pom and a tassel to try out my new eBrush® to see how it would work on something as delicate as yarn.

I absolutely LOVE how the PattieWack™ pompom and tassel turned out!  The eBrush™ creates such a fine, delicate spray of color that just dusted the tips of the pompom.  And I was able to aim it right at the neck of the tassel and on the tips to create an ombre effect that is total perfection.  Love, love love.

The eBrush™ tassel looks pretty swell on a simple cobalt blue bottle and adds a bit of whimsy at the feet of one of my mannequins in the studio.

And who doesn't love a fluffy pompom on a pillow!

DIY Junk Drawer Collage

This DIY Junk Drawer Collage is super easy for you to do in an afternoon, and it's a great opportunity to go thru those drawers with the weird things you think you'll need 'someday'.  One of my most favorite things to do is mixed media and collage. And this new Aleene's Rapid Dry adhesive really got my attention because it's perfect for my favorite kind of project.  It dries fast, it's a gel consistency, and it holds like a super strong magnet.  

Wanna see how I did it?  

Here's what you'll need:

First, grab a drawer that's running over with junk.  You know the drawer.  It's the one that you have to get a kitchen knife to open it, and you get your finger stuck in it when you try to close it!  Then you'll need something to glue everything to.  I chose this ampersand symbol I found at Michael's that's a heavy chipboard.  And you're going to need a fabulous glue.  The Aleene's Rapid Dry Mixed Media Adhesive is perfect.

Spray paint your letter or symbol with black spray paint, or whatever color you want for your background.  Be sure it's a matte finish because if it's glossy, the adhesive has to work a lot harder to stick.

Next, lay out all your junky bits on the painted chipboard.  I used tons of buttons to fill all the gaps.  Now's the fun part....pick up on piece at a time and apply glue to the back, then press it back onto the board to adhere.  It's okay to work slowly, because the adhesive works best when it's allowed to set a minute or two before you press the two pieces together.  That's all there is to it!

Of course, I just had to add a tassel.  I used the PattieWack™ Tassel Maker to make a 5-inch tassel with four colors of yarn.

Then I made a 3-inch pom-pom and tied it to the top of the tassel.

The pom-pom has 3 colors of yarn, so it really adds to the eclectic look of the finished collage.

Grand Opening Today! PattieWackDesigns Etsy Store

Big Announcement....

I'm pleased to announce the Grand Opening of the spankin' new PattieWackDesigns Etsy Store!   Yeehaw!  

I've been working on it for over a month and it finally came together.  Sooo happy that now I can share the PattieWack Tassel Tools, Pompom Tools, mixed media art, pompom keychains, color wheels, PattieWack Custom Crowns, and more crafty tools and supplies. 

Trust me, this is just the beginning. I've been hoarding craft supplies, and saving handmade items for YEARS.  And now it's time to unveil all the goodies!

One of the items in the store is just making me giddy.  I've always loved taking paper, rolling it, and making cool things with it.  And I've thought for a long time that making PattieWack Custom Crowns for special occasions would be fun.  Well, it's TIME.  I'm offering to make personalized crowns for those very special moments like a 50th birthday, or a Golden Wedding Anniversary, maybe a Sweet Sixteen Birthday girl, or any celebration.  There's a full description in the Etsy store :)
