Paint with Tires

Okay, everyone is asking me how I did these. Easy! I took a sponge paint roller and applied black fabric paint onto the tread of a tire and then just rolled it across the jeans and tees. You know, if you don't have a tire laying around, you can paint with your car! Just be sure nobody is WEARING the clothes when you run over them! *giggle* Seriously!

Tire Track Tees

When I got the idea for these shirts, everyone thought I was crazy, but I love how they turned out! Of course, the girls love them, too. How outrageous!

Button Bracelet

I so want to make some of these! I simply love the idea of using found objects, and especially buttons. These are gorgeous, and seem so simple to make. I'm going to my button box right now....

Sponge High Heeled Shoes

Can you believe these are made with sponge scrubbers, and all kinds of wacky household items? I love it! Good grief, I wouldn't wear them, but they sure would make a funky conversation starter. I know, just sit them on the floor by the shower door to freak out your guests. How fun, since all you need is a good bottle of glue.

Reconstructed Fashion

I had a blast doing this t-shirt and bag for Channel Six this Monday morning. I found the t-shirt at the local thrift store, and the bag, too! The bag has hidden pockets and cell phone holder inside, which makes it perfect, and fun to carry. The iron-ons are so easy, that this little project only took about 30 minutes from start to finish. There are SO many iron-ons in the store now, that it is hard to decide which ones to use.

Unsupervised Dye

This is what happens when you let kids dye Easter eggs! Yeppers, that's Lindsey after a few minutes without supervision. I wonder how the eggs turned out.

Bubble Wands for Easter

This weekend will be such fun with Easter Egg Hunts, family picnics, and kids playing outdoors to celebrate the holiday. If you are looking for an idea to keep the kids creative, try these bubble wands that I made for Craft TV. They are super easy, since all you need are shrink plastic sheets, scissors, and some permanent markers. Here is the pattern that you can enlarge to a full size sheet when you print it out. Let the kids watch as you place the cut-outs on a cookie sheet and bake at 250 degrees in an oven. I still get a kick out of watching the plastic curl up, shrink, and then lay flat on the sheet when it's done. Too cool! The kids can use markers to write their names or draw designs on the plastic before you shrink it.


BUBBLES RECIPE: Mix 5 cups water, 2 cups liquid dishwashing soap and 1/2 cup corn syrup. Pour into colorful bowls to dunk your bubble wands into, and watch the fun begin! Happy Easter, everyone!

My New Pattie Wack Studio

Voila! It is totally done, and I am loving it. Everything has a place, and everything is in it’s place. That’s something I learned from my mom and dad. They would be proud. Now I can stir up some new craft projects, sew up something and dream up some new craft products. Fun, fun, fun!

Gotta Haves

There are some things I can’t live without on my design table. Paper dolls, masks, crazy ephemera, rub-on alphabets, glue, a ton of scissors, paper, my markers, and a cool roller stamp. Notice the Martha Stewart ticket that I got when she was the keynote speaker at the last CHA trade show. Gotta haves….

Pee Wee, Amy, and Steve

You can’t have a design studio without inspiration. That’s an autographed pic of Pee Wee of Scott’s, a recipe from Amy Sedaris, and an autographed pic from Steve Martin. Mix them all with pompoms, googly eyes and some crayons, and let the crafting fun begin!

More Room

I am loving all this room. I still have 12 crates to organize, then I’ll be done. I’ll be so happy to have a place to sew, paint, paper craft, make jewelry and candles and soap, and even have room for my silk screen. Yes!

Perfect!

He did it! The table is perfect, and he attached a lamp and an electric strip for my glue guns. It’s almost done, thanks to Scott.

Door or Table?

I found this door, and I think that if I sweeten up Scott, that he will screw one end to that tower of drawers and add legs to the other end, it will make a sweet design table. Gotta find Scott.

Coffee Crazy Cutie

I know. He is a bit crazy. I blame it on the coffee, and yes that cup is full of coffee on his head. I guess that’s what it takes to keep up with my zippy-doo-dahs. The surfboard in the corner is waiting for us to have a day off to go to the beach.

In Control

See? It’s magic. All I needed was a little time, and my trusty computer to print out labels for every crate. This is only 36 of the 46 crates, full of priceless craft supplies. Makes me have shaky leg, just thinking about it. (That’s what happens when I get excited.)

Out of Control

Since so many people see me doing crafts on TV, the craft manufacturers send tons of supplies my way. Thanks, by the way! These are like gold to me, and I never throw anything away. Hey, it’s hard for me to throw away a plastic carry out carton, because who knows when I’ll need to stir up some paint? Anyway, it just looks like I’m out of control. Believe me, it’s all labeled and if you ask me for a black feather boa or a google eye, I know just where it is.

Eyes Rolled Back in My Head

When Scott was presented with the opportunity to combine his video production business with his buddy in Valencia, it made perfect sense to move, since I just became a creative alliance with Gloria and Susan at K1C2. Their design studio is in Ventura, California. So, we decided that the best place for us was Santa Paula, which is sort of in the middle between Valencia Production and Post Studios and the K1C2 Studio. And, of course it doesn’t hurt that Santa Barbara (where we used to live) is nearby. Can you say beaches? Okay, I need to pour some coffee and get busy.

Help Me

The move to Santa Paula has been a big ol’ eye opener for me. I knew I had lots of stuff, but baybee I have toooo much stuff! I counted over 40 plastic crates, full of stuff. Good grief, I’m glad I at least sorted it all before the move. It all used to be in the basement when we were in Tulsa, but now I get to spread out in our huge garage. I feel like a bird out of a cage. But, now the work begins.

We're Here!

We made it! Here's the new house in California. Now we just have to unpack and get busy crafting again. Keep coming back, and I'll keep you posted on the new place. I'll be turning the garage into a new design studio. Can't wait!

Bigger is Better

Good grief! Fiberglass cows, buried Cadillacs, the Grand Canyon, leaning water towers, and coffee shops. The road trip just keeps getting better. This big guy is at the Big Texan steakhouse in Amarillo, Texas. They have a 72 oz. steak there that you can have for free, if you can eat all of it. Yikes! I would like to meet the person who painted this giant cow. From looking at his face, he looks a little worried.

Remember the Cadillacs? Here's the pic of my graffitti. I know, not too exciting, but hey, I'm a preacher's kid, and taught NOT to write on things in public, so this is BIG for me. I just wish I had some spray paint.

Java Jolt

Another coffee shop! Check out the sign that says, "Do you want to talk to the man in charge, or the woman who knows what's going on?" Man, I think we could make this road trip without the car. We're full of espresso and whirling down the road. Look out, California, here we come.

Amy & Me

Back on the Road! My buns are tired, but I'm not bored with my new Amy Sedaris book to keep us entertained. I found it used on Amazon.com for cheeeep, and boy, was it worth it. Too fun!

Coffee Shop Crafts

Yes, we are at another coffee shop. This time in Gallup, New Mexico at the train station. Had a fabulous lunch and a chocolate thingy in the shape of a pyramid, filled with chocolate mousse. I'm not sure that's how you spell it, but who cares, it was delicious! The craft stick art is hanging from the ceiling and I couldn't resist a photo op. Coolio....

Britten, USA

Tricky photography, teehee! Scott kept saying, "Hold your hand up like you're pushing the tower!" and this is how it came out. My goodness, what a scary sight! We are in Britten, USA and this tower looks like it could fall over any minute. Yikes!

Gotta Do It

I just had to run back to the car and grab my markers to add a little crafty touch to the skull and graffitti car paint. I wish I had spray paint! This feels a little naughty and fun at the same time.

Cadillac King!

It's Scott, King of the Cadillacs! Who could resist climbing to the top? What a crazy sight at the side of the road...there were spray paint cans scattered everywhere. Hmmm....I just might have to add my own crafty touch.

Can You Say Road Trip?

The words ROAD TRIP conjurs up thoughts of wheat fields, canyons, forests, and truck stops, right? Well, what about Cadillacs buried halfway in the ground, in the middle of a cow pasture in Amarillo, Texas?

We're MOVING!

Yes, that's a moving van, that's my family, and that's me with the big smile. It's going to be tough to leave these crazy peeps. I gave all my plants away, as I don't think they will make the trip from Tulsa to Santa Paula on a moving van. I'm going to miss everyone..... That's my mom and auntie holding plants, my Dad, my brother David, my uncle, and of course Scott standing next to me.

Surprise Birthday Crafts

Happy Birthday Chad!
I surprised my nephew during the Pattiewack-n-Crafts segment this morning on CBS Tulsa's Six In The Morning Show. Chad works as a Master Control operator, and he was shocked when he saw his head sticking out of a bouquet of flowers.

There were gift bags with Chad face cut-outs, and little Chad faces poked into twinkies, hohos and cupcakes.

The prep for these party favors is suprisingly minimal, considering how much mileage you get from one single image. I found a funny photo of Chad on his myspace page and enlarged it in PhotoShop to an 8 x 10 to print from my computer. For the cupcake pokes, I printed out smaller images and after I cut them out, I taped them to long plastic picks.

For the banner, I cut out the faces and used spray adhesive to adhere them to colored paper, then taped yarn along the backs of the page to string across the set.

LeAnne Taylor is peeking from behind a Chad mask, and what a blast! They are so easy to make. Simply use spray adhesive to adhere the photos to cardstock, cut out, and then tape a large tongue depressor to the back. Don't forget to punch out holes in the eyes to see through. I used a pencil to make the holes.

Behind the Scenes at Channel Six

CBS Channel Six News Anchor LeAnne Taylor, and I were chatting away before the PattieWack-n-Crafts segment this morning. Look close and you'll see how pretty the Valentine's Day card turned out, with the glass pendant on the front. The pendants were a big hit, and I gave away a bunch of them after the segment. Fun!














The gang is all here, and checking out the Valentine's Cards for a last minute look. That's Casey Norton, Channel Six News Anchor, and Reporter Carina Sonn, along with cameramen and producers. These peeps are just as much fun OFF the air as they are ON the air!














Kevin Martin the Floor Manager, is checking out the set-up for my craft segment along with LeAnne. Kevin is great at his job, keeps us all on time, on our toes, and has fun at the same time. I just love it!

Valentine's Day Candy Crazy

My girlfriend Darsee and I created all of these yummy trees and orbs covered with candies for Valentine's Day. The pic is from the magazine we were featured in. Talk about a sweeeet idea! It was meant to be for a girly Valentine's party, but I think it's great for a sweet sixteen party, too.

Glass Pendants

These are SO easy to make. I'll be showing how to glue the glass stones to catalog pages and scrapbook paper on Channel Six this coming Monday morning. I found the images in an Alloy and an Urban Outfitters catalog. The really killer images are from little catalog pics of t-shirt designs. Cool, huh? To make them more for a Valentine's Day gift, I plan to add heart charms to the necklaces. Oh, and for chicks to give to guys, I think I will make another one with a photo and put it on a keychain. And I will HAVE to make a box and a card too, don't you think?

Jewelry Marathon

Tricia and I had a jewelry marathon, and as you can see, we made over a dozen glass pendants. We just couldn't stop!

It Was HUGE

Can you say HUGE? My cut-out was way big, as you can see with Lauren Johnston, me, and Joan Fee standing behind it. I felt like I was in one of those old black and white B-Movies where the giant woman takes over the town, picking up cars and throwing them into buildings. People were coming by from all over the trade show floor just to see us. Joan's was huge, too. Her demonstration was the talk of the show, as her make-it-take-it was BRA PURSES. Matchbook Shrines

When Duncan said they were creating life-sized standups of the Designers for their trade show booth, little did we know that they were going to be BIGGER than life. Here is Kathy's stand up, and she is holding one of her amazing shrines. Kathy demonstrated her totally Chicano pop-art style matchbook shrines for her make-it-take-it. I am so dissapointed because I didn't get to hang out at her table and make one. I just imagine there will be another chance to have a crafty meet-up with her at some future craft extravaganza.

Crafty Chicas

I'm talking CRAFTY and CHICA baybeee, at the Duncan booth. That's me with Kathy Cano Murillo and Michelle, her sis-in-law as we did our make-it-take-its. Michelle created a kick-butt altered clip board. She pretty much reigned queen at my table, and had to elbow her way in. There were gals standing in line to snag a seat at my demo, and they walked away with some cool clipboards with attitude.

Trade Show Renegades

The CHA Craft and Hobby Association trade show was amazing! The crafty eye candy made my head spin as I tried to wrap my brain around the gorgeous papers, new jazzy colors of paint, nifty new tools, and fashion crafts everywhere I looked. Being a Creative Alliance with EK Success was a blast as my new partners and I from K1C2 launched our patented invention, called The 1-2-3-D Paper Crafting System, to thousands of buyers from all over the world. You can only imagine how crazy it is to be around so much creativity. That's me holding our imaginative new paper craft system for scoring and cutting a limitless array of dimensional paper crafts.
